The artistic approach of Danielle Champoux
We wrote about Danielle Champoux’s path to painting last summer (click here to read the article). In addition to having a very interesting life, her artistic approach is also fascinating! The artist says, “I paint for the love of art. It’s my heart and my inner voice that dictate what I paint. I don’t make any choice, everything is spontaneous! “
And indeed, her work is very intuitive: “When I start a painting, I don’t know what the final result will be. I once painted a flower pot that ended up as a tree, or a bouquet of flowers that ended as a butterfly! I never do sketches before I start painting. It’s my hand that directs, my spatula, my brushstroke. I paint on several canevas at the same time, so if one day I want to work a little more on a specific painting, I can do it. “
Art lovers know the distinctive style of the painter, who often incorporates flowers and hearts in her works. “The flowers really have a lot of varieties and colors to explore. I am a very positive person, who loves life and people. Hearts are there to convey love and friendship, not to mention health. It is a way for me to convey through my work positive emotions, to show the beauty of life and the joy that surrounds us. We are bombarded with bad news; I want people not to see just what is wrong in the world, but also to all that is beautiful and wonderful around us. “
Not only is Danielle Champoux’s style visually unique, but the artist also uses a particular technique, sometimes mixing acrylic with different materials, including cotton and even sand! “I like to give my works a twist that reminds us of the past; I use sand and various other mediums to give us that impression. The different materials and mediums such as the mortar and cotton gels push me to be even more creative. With them there is no limit and this makes the art even more grandiose, more alive, more vibrant! They bring texture and make me realize that I am a sculptural artist, since it is like a form of sculpture on canvas with a 3D dimension. “
Danielle Champoux has been part of the large family of artists at Galerie Perreault for a few years now. Why did she choose to entrust her work to this team? “I once stopped there at the very beginning because I liked the artists who were there. I immediately liked the people who worked there too! It is a prestigious gallery, with warm people and artists of great talent. I felt it was a place for me. They take care of their artists, have excellent communication and are very professional. This is outstanding teamwork that I appreciate very much! “
